About this language family
Also known as Highland Nilotes. Includes the Kalenjin cluster and the Datooga of Tanzania. Associated with the high-altitude escarpments and plateaux of the East African Rift Valley. Distinguished by significant historical interaction with Cushitic-speaking communities, from whom they adopted the age-set system (ibinda) and circumcision practices.
