About this language family
The largest branch of Indo-European by number of speakers, including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Urdu, and Marathi. In East Africa, Indo-Aryan languages arrived with South Asian traders and labourers from the 1890s, particularly Gujarati and Kutchi-speaking communities.
