Origin story & oral tradition
In Luo mythology, Ramogi is traditionally regarded as the father or founding ancestor of the Luo people. The term "Bor" in this context might be a misunderstanding. Ramogi, often referred to as Ramogi Ajwang’, is believed to have led the Luo migration from Sudan into present-day Kenya and Uganda. The hill named Got Ramogi in Siaya County is considered a sacred site, symbolizing the place where Ramogi settled.
